Dyed in the wool nerd. I have been playing - mostly DMing - since the mid '80s which I guess puts me at about 35 years old. :) I have a group, we meet in person about once a fortnight, but I would like to expand this to a group more willing to play something other than 5e. When the weather is cooler I run a fortnightly online game, mostly on Fantasy Grounds but I have a couple of other VTTs that get an occasional outing. (Talespire is visually [chef's Kiss.]) My wife also plays - she is a superb roleplayer despite having very little grasp of any of the rules! We enjoy boardgames of all varieties - Mistborn and Zombicide are our current favourites! Updated: August 2nd 2026

Hi, I'm John, and I've been playing tabletop RPGs for 10+ years, with around 8 of those spent behind the DM screen. While I love running games, I'm currently looking to join a group as a player in the Bishop Auckland, Barnard Castle, or wider County Durham area. I've played D&D 3.5, 5e, and the 2024 rules update, along with a variety of other systems including Paranoia, Vampire: The Masquerade, and Star Wars d20 (3.5). I've recently picked up Daggerheart and Candela Obscura and would love the chance to give both a try. I'm a big Critical Role fan and have been lucky enough to attend several live shows in both the UK and the US. For me, tabletop gaming is all about great stories, memorable characters, and having a laugh with good people. Over the years I've met some fantastic players and made lifelong friends through the hobby. I have a regular online game on Mondays, but I'm looking for an in-person group and am available most other days. I'm easy-going, get on with pretty much everyone, and I'm looking for a friendly group that enjoys good roleplay, teamwork, and plenty of laughs along the way.
