Sign in to contactD6 RPGs! (Beginner-Friendly! 😊)
This meetup group is for everyone who wants to enjoy role playing games, from complete beginners to experienced players. We'll feature topics such as Star Wars, Dungeons & Dragons, Cyberpunk, and Robotech, giving them a unique twist. We'll be using D6 rules, which are easy to learn and use, and focus on storytelling, acting and lots of fun rather than technical lingo and technicalities. Our guidelines include Character Attributes, Skills, Classes & Races, Magic, Feats and Abilities, Alignment, XP & Levels, while maintaining balance and avoiding OP-ing throughout the game. We hope to use classic RPGs with a modern spin, learning both new and existing knowledge. During combat, we will use Group Initiative, with players rolling to attack and the defender having two saves, Dodge / Block and Strength Save. Damage is assigned according to the attack roll's success or lack thereof, with sixes over ones being the key to success. Past events have included campaigns such as Hoard of the Dragon Queen or The Ruins of Pax Tharkas. Join us for a great time playing some classic RPG’s!
Sign in to contactUltra-Longform Fiction
This book group is dedicated to tackling long fiction that could be difficult for other groups to get through. We read everything from Proust, Tolstoy, and Zola to more modern authors such as Pat Barker and Hilary Mantel. However, we don't allow fantasy or science fiction. Rather than having everyone agree on a book, we take turns deciding. We manage the group on Meetup and Zoom and we greatly appreciate any voluntary contributions. Recently, we have discussed the two volumes of 'Generations of Winter' by Vasily Aksyonov and are currently discussing 'The Winter's Hero.'
