Sir Cobalt

Hello, I'm a 23 year old guy currently based in Norton. I use Sir Cobalt as a username pretty much everywhere so I guess I'll use it here. I've been interested in getting into TTRPGs for a long while now because it looks really fun. I think I have a decent general overview of how it works from watching people play but otherwise I'm a beginner. Unfortunately, I haven't been given much of an opportunity to learn because there's such a high bar of entry. Everyone only ever wants to play with their close friends or established groups so it's been really difficult getting involved. I guess that's why I'm here. I probably couldn't set up a group on my own so I guess I'm hoping to join one. If it helps, I have strong experience worldbuilding and writing. I run a project that I keep mostly private (my attempts to share it have failed anyway) and I have a background in game design. I could potentially DM if necessary but maybe not yet. Otherwise, I'm a diligent roleplayer; I can immerse myself pretty well into a setting and respect it. My preferences for genres generally include sci-fi and/or science fantasy. I'm also interested in historical or alt-history settings since I've heard that's a thing. To be honest, I'm a bit iffy on regular fantasy unless it's TES or LotR and I'm really not a fan of anything grimdark, but I can be pretty open minded regardless. I might be a little bit socially awkward and I might make mistakes, but that can be overcome. But in any case, thanks for reading.
